Legal Advisor – Private Client Court of Protection – Taunton – Associate Level
Location: Taunton (with hybrid flexibility)
Type of Role: Permanent, Full-time
Salary: £45,000 to £60,000 + Benefits
A respected UK law firm is seeking a Legal Advisor with experience in Court of Protection and Private Client matters to join its specialist team in Taunton. This is a unique opportunity to manage a meaningful caseload while contributing to the growth strategy of a collaborative and well-established Private Client department.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for managing a range of Property & Affairs matters, including:
- Preparing and submitting Court of Protection applications (e.g. deputy appointments, Statutory Wills)
- Liaising with clients, families, deputies, and the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG)
- Managing bank accounts, investments, and benefits, including budgeting and payments
- Drafting legal documents such as witness statements and court applications
- Representing clients or deputies at Court of Protection hearings
- Supervising and mentoring junior team members, including legal assistants and paralegals
- Investigating potential financial abuse and safeguarding client interests
- Supporting business development and networking initiatives
Candidate Requirements
This role is suited to a legal professional with:
- Associate-level experience or equivalent in Private Client and Court of Protection work
- Strong interpersonal and client care skills
- Exposure to property and affairs matters, with a compassionate and considered approach
- Ability to manage a caseload independently and make sound decisions
- Excellent drafting and organisational abilities
- A collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for team development
- Commercial awareness and a proactive attitude toward growth and innovation
