Associate – Private Client – Plymouth – 5+ Years PQE
Location: Plymouth
Type of Role: Permanent, Full-time
Salary: £55,000 to £70,000 (dependent on experience)

A respected regional law firm with offices across Devon is seeking an experienced Private Client Associate to join its growing team in either Plymouth. This is a senior-level position created to support the continued expansion of the department and to recognise practitioners who are leaders in their field.

The Private Client Team
The team brings together experienced lawyers and efficient legal support professionals to deliver exceptional client care across the full spectrum of private client services. Partners are Legal 500 recommended and have deep expertise in:

  • Health, Social and Elderly Care
  • Trusts, Tax and Succession
  • Estate Planning
  • Complex Estate Administration

Many of the team hold specialist accreditations such as STEP and SFE, reflecting the high technical standards and sector knowledge within the department.

The Role
As a senior-level Associate, you will play a key role in the ongoing growth and success of the Private Client department. Responsibilities include:

  • Managing a complex and varied caseload
  • Supervising, mentoring and developing junior colleagues
  • Contributing to business development and the firm’s strategic direction
  • Helping to shape and refine team processes and client experience

You will handle a broad range of matters including:

  • Wills
  • Estate Administration and Probate
  • Lasting Powers of Attorney
  • Trust and Inheritance Tax Planning
  • Trust Administration

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practitioner ready to step into a leadership role, combining high quality legal work with team development and wider firm contribution.

Candidate Requirements
This role is suited to a qualified solicitor with:

  • At least 5 years’ PQE in private client work
  • STEP membership or a willingness to work towards it
  • Strong technical knowledge across all core private client areas
  • Proven ability to manage complex matters independently
  • Experience supervising, mentoring or supporting junior team members
  • Strong business development skills and the ability to build client relationships
  • A commitment to exceptional client care, professionalism and integrity
  • A desire to contribute to the wider success and culture of the firm
